THE TRUE HISTORY OF TAEKWONDO "(MY HOBBIT FAVORITE)"
More than 1400 years ago Korea was divided into 3 kingdoms, SILLA, KOGURYO AND BACK JE, the smallest of these, SILLA, was constantly invaded by neighboring towns. During the reign of King CHIN HEUNG, formed a large group of young warriors whose main ideal was the defense of nature and natural resources of the country. This group of young people was called HWA-RANG-DO and was made up of young people from the aristocratic families of Korea.
They went to the mountains and to the coasts to study the methods of defense and attacks applied by wild animals and to describe what kinds of defensive and offensive techniques gave them better advantages. The mountains were scaled to strengthen their body, they swam in the rivers of turbulent waters in the coldest months. all this prepared them to coordinate the mind and the body within a harmonious system of fights which they called SOO-BAK-DO, which was the primitive art of the struggle with the feet; It was very popular among ordinary people during the DAN-O festivals (May 5th lunar calendar), and in the mid-autumn festivals (August 15 lunar calendar), SOO-BAK-DO championships were held, which time was taken to another system called TAE-KYONG which means IRON KICK.
At that time, the art mentioned used only foot movements and maintained its popularity after the Silla dynasty until the Koryo Dynasty (935-1392 AD), during this dynasty the TAE-KYONG was not only practiced as a skill to improve health, or as a sports activity, but was promoted and encouraged as a martial art.
In the following centuries it suffers its ups and downs and survives the JAPANESE invasion in 1909, when the Japanese occupy Korea, during that occupation that lasted until the year 1945, the Resident General banned the practice of martial arts, therefore practiced in the most remote and rural places of korea. Followers of TAE-KYONG, like SONG DUK KI, HAN II DONG and a few others, managed to keep this art alive. During the 40 years of the Japanese invasion, they did their best to suppress and destroy all elements of the native culture of Korea. As a result of this many practitioners, young instructors and teachers migrated to China and Japan. Where there was no prohibition, no restrictions for the practice of martial arts, this group received the instruction of the KUNG FU and the JAPANESE KARATE of the 20s, they were the first, in thousands of years to mix the native martial arts of Korea with Foreign Martial Arts, hence the similarity and exchange of different styles.
The TAE-KYONG experts combined the new hand techniques with the TAE-KYONG foot technique to form a high self-defense technique. During the Second World War, a group of Koreans in a teacher conference gave the name of TAE-KWON-DO (Korean Martial Arts of Hands and Feet), this was on April 11, 1955. The name of TAE KWON DO, was created and presented for acceptance by General CHOI HONG HI.
In the year of 1961 the Korean Association of TAE-KWON-DO, was formally organized and was recognized by the Korean Government. On March 22, 1966 the I.T.F. was founded in South Korea. (INTERNATIONAL TAE-KWON-DO FEDERATION). chaired by General CHOI-HON-HI, which was integrated by the countries: ITALY, GERMANY, TURKEY, ARABIA, MALAYSIA, SINGAPORE, VIETNAM AND THE UNITED STATES. In 1971, the WORLD FEDERATION OF TAE-KWON-DO (W.T.F) was created, presided by the DR. ONE YONG KIM. On November 30, 1972 the TAE KWON DO Association of Korea inaugurated the KUK KI WON academy center. On January 10, 1973 in the capital, provinces and units, the groups were regularized leaving only nine, these are the recognized families:
- JI DO KWAN
- CHUNG DO KWAN
- OH DO KWAN
- MOO DUK KWAN
- CHANG MOO KWAN
- HAN MOO KWAN
- SONG MOO KWAN
- KANG DUK WON

In myo of 1973, the first world championship was held in SEOUL and KOREA, where they practiced more than 30 countries.
