"Ganesh" is a samosa vendor living in a busy city in India. His mobile restaurant in the city sells 500 samosas a day very easily. In the last 30 years, he has become extremely popular among everyone because of his samosa trade. That's because he cared so much about hygiene and quality. He used a lot of oil and ingredients for that. Samosa buyers were given free chutney. The remaining samosas are distributed to the poor and the remaining ones are fed to dogs and cows. Ganesh was able to earn a substantial monthly amount from this business. His only son's primary education, graduation and his MBA were all paid for with the proceeds from Ganesh's samosa business. He was a person without any debt. His son Sandeep returned home after his MBA. He informed Ganesh that he would like to help his father's samosa business. But never before had he helped his father with his samosa business. Ganesh was overjoyed at his arrival. Ganesh thought this was a great opportunity to further improve his business.

Sandeep instructed to make only 400 samosas the next day to avoid wastage. For that, he mixed 40% of used oil with 60% new oil and used it to fry samosas. They were able to sell 400 samosas that day, so their profits increased. Ganesh was very happy. But on that day there was no preference among the consumers regarding the taste. Sandeep advised to use 50% virgin oil and 50% used oil to fry samosas the next day. But only 300 samosas could be sold that day. Instead of throwing the rest away or giving it away for free, Sandeep arranged to re-roast it and sell it the next day. Ganesh regretted that he could have done this before. But he was proud of his son.
The next day they made 200 new samosas and they were able to sell 300 samosas with the remaining 100 samosas from the previous day. Sandeep explained to his father about the profit of not giving free chutney. Ganesh said if it is not a problem then do so. From the day after that, they could sell only 100 samosas. For several days they could sell only 100 samosas. After studying for a few days, Sandeep realized that there has been an economic recession and said:
"People don't have money. Because of that, business is less. Let's not give away the free tissues". Saying this, Sandeep stopped the tissue paper given for free.
In a few days the samosa business dropped to 50 units. Sandeep told Ganesh that now it is time to stop the samosa business and start a new business. Ganesh, who had been silent till now, raised his voice.
"You have not learned how to do business. You have learned how to cheat. I sold 500 samosas, today I sell only 50 samosas to you. I did this for 30 years, not learning like you. You have learned how to cheat, not how to develop business. Please do this for me. If you like, I will pay you for kneading flour and frying samosas.
Again thinking about high quality as usual, Ganesh started preparing samosas better than before. Within a few weeks, he increased his business again to the point where he was selling 600 samosas a day.

Isn't this what happens in many places today, not just in government and private institutions?
If you want to change the system, don't you have to change your own attitude first? How can you and I change the system by scolding each other and behaving like children?
