I can give you a lesson. When you invest BTC or ETH your profit/loses cant be in USD, bcs you don't know now how much you have profit or looses.
This is easy, BTC=USD , alts=BTC.

So you can compare BTC with USD, but alts only with BTC/ETH.

In any other example it doesn't work.
