Lactation Smoothies for Breastfeeding Moms

SMOOTHIES.jpg

Every nursing mother is concerned their baby is getting enough breast milk. One way to increase your supply and feel confident is by eating nutritious foods.

Sometimes as mothers we get so caught up with daily routines that we don't have time to cook. However, if you want baby to nurse well and receive all the nutrients he/she needs we must nourish our bodies as well. I found it so convenient to make smoothies that were not only delicious but prominent in milk production.

A personal favorite is the Strawberry Lactation smoothie. Also, if you think about it, try freezing those fruits in advance. It really thickens the smoothie. Be sure to let us know which is your favorite!

Servings: 1

1/2 cup milk of your choice (I prefer unsweetened Almond milk)
1/3 cup oats ( I like old fashioned oats)
1/2 Tbsp brewer's yeast
1/2 Tbsp flax seeds
1/2 of banana (frozen)
1/2 cup strawberries (frozen)

Instructions:

Blend milk, oats, brewer's yeast and flax seed. Add frozen banana and strawberries and blend until smooth. Enjoy immediately!
