"Photo of the Week Contest 20 | Sharing my best Photo of the Week"
My Favorite Outfit This Week |
|---|
Good day, everyone. It's my first time posting in this community and I am happy to participate in this contest of the week, and thanks to @m-fdo for bringing this amazing topic.
What’s your favorite outfit this week? Describe it by sharing its photos |
|---|
My favorite outfit this week is the beautiful Ankara gown I wore to the get-together of my old secondary schoolmates. The dress is a nicely tailored traditional African attire made with Ankara fabric. It has a fitted, floor-length style with cap sleeves and a clean sweetheart neckline. The fabric has a green base with purple and gold floral patterns that make it bright and elegant.
What stands out the most is the bold purple mesh sash crossing the front of the gown. It adds a modern touch to the traditional design and gives the whole outfit a unique flair. I styled it simply with my braided hair, a black clutch, and strappy sandals.
Why do you like this outfit? |
|---|
I like this outfit not just because of how beautiful it is, but because of how it promotes my culture. Wearing Ankara always gives me that proud feeling, and this dress made me happy right from the moment I wore it.
I also liked the reactions I got from people. Some admired the colors, some loved the fitting, and others just appreciated the whole look. The tailoring was neat, the design was clean, and everything about it came out exactly how I wanted.
Where did you get this outfit? Tell me about the location |
|---|
I didn’t buy it as a ready-made dress. I sewed it with my personal tailor, whose workshop is beside Shoprite here in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria. The place is close to my house, so it’s easy for me to visit her. She understands my shape well, and she always gets my fitting right.
What is the value of this outfit? Show us its value in your country’s currency and in STEEM currency |
|---|
Here, Ankara is sold by yards, and I used a total of four yards as my tailor suggested. The four yards cost ₦8,000, and the sewing plus the extra design cost ₦13,000, and the money for her job is ₦7,000.
Altogether, the value of this outfit is ₦20,000, and it's approximately 180 STEEM when converted.
Conclusion |
|---|
To round everything up, this outfit made my week feel special. It’s not just about the colors or the style, but the way it made me feel when I wore it. I felt proud, comfortable, and beautifully connected to my culture. Wearing it to my secondary school get-together made the day even more memorable, and that’s why it remains my favorite outfit of the week.
