FROM MASKED POOLS TO 105-YEAR LEGACIES:MY WILD EASTER MARATHON

The weekend started with a transformation. You know I believe that details are the currency of confidence, so Friday morning was dedicated to the essentials: Nails and lashes.

WHAT MY NAILS LOOK LIKE
By 2:00 PM, my roommate and I checked into the hotel. We weren't just guests; we were the engine behind the scenes. Hired as ushers for a two-day event, we hit the ground running. We spent the afternoon transforming the venue into a dreamscape for a Masked Pool Party.
Handing out masks to guests, coordinating the flow, and ensuring the vibe was "top-tier" took its toll—by evening, we were famished! But after a quick, legendary meal and some rest, it was showtime. The party kicked off at midnight. The sound was everywhere, the water looked inviting under the lights, and the energy of the crowd was undeniable.
Around 3:00 AM, the professional part of the night ended and the "us" part began. We swapped our ushering outfits for our swim gear and dove into the pool. Being close friends with the host meant we weren't just staff—we were treated like royalty. Princess treatment until the sun came up? Yes, please. 👑💦
🎧 SATURDAY: SILENT DISCOS & DEEP RHYTHMS

MY OUTFIT FOR THE DAY
Saturday was a test of endurance. After waking up late (around 1:00 PM) and refueling, we were back on duty by 4:00 PM for the Silent Disco. If you’ve never experienced a silent disco, there’s something powerful about a room full of people dancing to a rhythm only they can hear. We helped manage the night, shared some drinks, and danced until our feet ached. By 2:00 AM, we finally retired to sleep, drifting off to the lingering echo of the bass.
🎡 SUNDAY: THE "KIDDISH" NOSTALGIA
Sunday morning was for checking out and heading back to the hostel, but the "glow-up" didn't stop. By 3:00 PM, we were getting ready for Kiddish 4.0—a nostalgic event that felt like a warm hug from the past. We got our tickets on entering the venue, and let go of all the "adulting" for a few hours.

THIS IS ME AT THE KIDDISH VENUE
We didn't get home until 1:00 AM Monday morning.
But there was no time to linger... a bigger journey was waiting.
🕊️ MONDAY: A 105-YEAR GOODBYE
At the crack of dawn, a driver was downstairs. We packed our bags and headed to the Villa—our friend’s maternal home in Ihe, Enugu State—to honor his great-grandfather.
There is a specific kind of peace in the village. This man lived for 105 years. Can you imagine the history those eyes have seen? We arrived by 6:00 PM, helped with chores, ate traditional food, and soaked in the legacy of a life well-lived. It was the perfect, grounding contrast to the neon lights of the weekend.
🧪 TUESDAY: THE "MED SCHOOL" PLOT TWIST & THE IYIAGBAOKU
We woke up early Tuesday morning, freshened up, and rushed back from the Villa. Why? Because the life of a medical student waits for no one. We had a Biochemistry Practical scheduled and we weren't about to miss it.
We got to school, exhausted but ready... only to find out the practical was CANCELLED. 😤 I stood there, thinking about the miles I’d traveled and the hours of sleep I’d sacrificed, and I just had to laugh. Struggles of a med student 😩
However, I didn't let that spoil my mood. I got home, freshened up, and went back to my friend’s village (IHE) for the burial proper. I got to experience so many activities and learned a lot about their culture and traditions. I even got to witness their masquerade, the Iyiagbaoku, perform

IYIAGBAOKU MASQUERADE
(I’ll tell you more about that specific masquerade in another post).
I helped with sharing food and drinks to people, after which we danced and finally got ready to leave by 8:00 PM. We got home shortly after, and now I’m arranging my things for school tomorrow—the med student life calls again! 😩 I have a 9:00 AM class Wednesday morning that I can't afford to be late for, but I couldn't keep this wonderful experience to myself.
Final Reflections
This Easter taught me that life isn't just about the "grind" or the "glam"—it's about the transitions between them. I am a student, an entrepreneur, a worker, and a dreamer.
I don’t chase the good times; I attract them by showing up, working hard, and knowing when to dive into the pool. 🕯️✨
What was the highlight of your holiday? Did you have a "failed" plan like my cancelled practical?
