What better way to kickstart the year than to start with happy beginnings??? That’s exactly what I did!!

Today is the wedding and traditional marriage ceremony of one of my very respected Steemian @ruthjoe and I was there to felicitate with her and her husband on this wonderful occasion!

I’ve known @ruthjoe and her husband, since the year 2013/14 and she has been and still is a woman i greatly look up to. When I joined the Steemit platform, I was always encouraged by her performance, if she could do it, then so can I, little wonder I was beyond ecstatic to learn that her wedding would be taking place in my city owerri. Let me take you through the highlights.

As every intending early guest would, I got up and did the basics of getting ready. I was aiming to get there by 10am as time doesn’t wait for anyone. A cute selfie before I head out!

I arrived the wedding venue which happens to be my church and realized that the time had been shifted to 11am, no problem i said, a 1 hour wait won’t kill anyone 😁. I used the time to meet and greet people and also take some cute selfies

Not long after, the bride and groom arrived and the wedding began proper. The parents of the couple and guests walked in, next the groom arrived and sat down, followed by the musical march for the bride’s entrance. It was so beautiful to witness. The bride was looking so resplendent in her flowing white gown with a beautiful smile on her face, walking towards her forever!!

Next came the handover by the bride’s father to the pastor and then the groom. Here the bride’s father would literally give his daughter’s hand to the groom symbolizing that he was passing on responsibility of the woman to him(the groom).

After this we witnessed the unveiling of the bride, the kiss, which made us all laugh for a bit and then some dance as they both headed to sign the marriage registry.

From here on out was all smiles and dance as the choir serenaded us with beautiful songs to mark the occasion.
Once the signing was done, we all returned back to our seats for a message from the pastor. He preached on the importance of this institution called marriage and how it was a sacred one, not to be entered into lightly but prayerfully. After these the couple were called forward and blessed to which the whole church chorused a big AMENNN!

Their marriage certificate was given to them and just like that, we had the latest couple in town.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Oh the joy was so contagious to witness as friends and family rushed foward to say their congratulations.
It was time for pictures and let me tell you, the number of people that came and were waiting to take pictures with the couple was almost intimidating, plus the hot scorching sun. Nevertheless, I took a couple of pictures with some Steemian I saw at the wedding.

Who can you recognize in these photos??? You got it. @alexanderpeace and @ninapenda were there. It was a Steemian gathering to be honest, we took lovely pictures as I didn’t have the time to greet and snap with all the Steemian I met there!!
From there straight to the village for the traditional wedding.
Check my next post for all the juicy details of how our bride stepped out in style to look for her husband in the traditional igbo way!!
