On The Surface of The Lake

While admiring the landscapes of the picturesque town of Hallstatt, my attention was drawn to a boat gliding calmly across the surface of the lake. It left behind a distinct trail on the water which, in my opinion, does a tremendous job compositionally, adding both direction and a sense of movement to the frame.

The mountains reflected in the mirror-like surface of the lake also play a significant role, partially shrouded in shadow. This contrast between light and shade adds greater depth to the scene.

This photograph features a rather unusual edit, with deliberately altered colors. I rarely use such treatments, but in this case it felt like a perfect match. I’m especially fond of the “white sky” effect I managed to achieve here, giving the image a sense of lightness and a slightly surreal atmosphere.
