Kadokawa, Sammy, and Ultra Super Pictures Join Forces to Produce Hybrid Anime
With the nature of entertainment constantly changing, more and more studios around the world are doing what they can to jump on the next new thing. Add Kadokawa to that list -- for a start -- as they've joined forces with Sammy and Ultra Super Pictures to form ENGI.
Short for "ENtertainment Graphic Innovation" (and also Japanese for play or omen depending on how you spell it), ENGI seeks to create hybrid digital animation using each company's strengths. Kadokawa has an impressive backlog of IPs. Sammy (short of Sega-Sammy) is known in Japan for their pachislots featuring well-known titles. And Ultra Super Pictures is the umbrella under which reside many familiar studios and companies -- including Studio Trigger, Good Smile, and Bushiroad.
As ENGI, the companies aim to create new works using cutting-edge animation technology. What lies, ahead, though, we'll have to wait and see.
