Yuya Yagira Reprises His Role as Toushiro Hijikata in "Gintama 2"
The last entry of the daily cast introduction for the upcoming Gintama live-action film sequel is, as expected, 28-year-old Yuya Yagira, who is confirmed to reprise his role as Toushiro Hijikata, the vice commander of Shinsengumi. Yagira won the Best Actor Award at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival by his performance in Hirokazu Koreeda's Dare mo Shiranai/Nobody Knows, when he was just 14.
Yagira: "Again in this shooting, there was so much energy on the set, wanting to make this film absolutely great. I was happy to have an opportunity to join such a filmmaking. When we were filming a certain scene, the director told me, 'Don't worry about the time. Just act as you want to leave no regrets.' So I tried with my full capability to avoid being taken out by Jiro Sato-san and Tsuyoshi Muro-san. I would be grateful if you can enjoy the film."
