Agreed. Academic writing is a different kind of writing altogether. I used to like it during undergrad, but now as a post-doc I start to kind of hate it. All that work, those hours, only to get it into a good journal for the points. Really not my kind of thing. I reckon law-writing is even different from the social development & philosophy I'm currently grappling with.
