What we should know: Tips-Body Language (Chap. 1_Part 1)
Body language, a subject to which we pay little attention (not to mention none) despite the importance it has in life, given that it could provide us with additional information -of the people around us- just by knowing how to interpret certain signs that each individual projects with his humanity.
Knowing how to interpret body signals is a great help when maintaining a verbal communication, or when you are simply as a listener or observer; since in general, they are accompanied by body gestures, which will indicate or reveal the true postures, reactions and behaviors that we have before the subject in conversation.
Speaking a bit of history
The aspects of nonverbal communication began to be actively studied in the decade of the 60s, where the first publication took place in 1970 at the hands of Julius Fast; and in which was summarized, the results of behavioral studies that had been carried out on the body language.
The technical study of body language of greater relevance before the twentieth century, was carried out by Charles Darwin in his work called "Expression and Emotions in Man and Animals" published in 1872, and which was the origin of modern studies about facial and body expressions.
The safest thing is that the answer is a "No". I did not know either. It turns out that according to Mehrabian, the impact of each type of communication is as follows:
Most researchers agree that verbal communication is used primarily to provide some information, while non-verbal communication is used to express personal attitudes, and in some cases as substitutes for verbal ones.
I'm sure that many, in our childhood, we have been able to interpret those orders given to us by our mothers through looks or gestures (。>﹏<。).
