The feet, an integral part of any human body, usually hidden within a sizable foot-ware, for years humans have evolved to walk upright and on two feet instead of on all fours like our evolutionary forefathers did.

We often forget how important it is to be able to walk, to be able to stand up and move from one location to the other.

Many pay no attention to their legs as a part that needs love and care like any other part of the body.
Going back thousands of years ago, the apes from which man would eventually evolve from walked on 4 feets. The earliest known humans are suspected to have walked with a slight slump in their backs as a result of this.

And besides, the feet is considered one of the top, if not the top place people look at to determine a persons social level right?

So lets jump in an see what we can dig up

How thy feet evolved

Humanity evolved from apes, according to science anyway, and the apes we evolved from walked on all 4’s. The earliest humans didn’t do this though, but as can be seen in the no-so-accurate-but-somewhat-accurate picture below, early humans had a bend.

Humans evolved though, and soon homo erectus was born.

Homo erectus was a species of man that was able to stand erect(that is literally what the name homo erectus means)

From this point onward, I personally like to think that the legs and feet became man’s most precious tool.

This is because in those early times, there were no animals to ride, no other means of mobility except via the old age method of ‘’trekking’’.
This meant that any harm to the legs, or loss of mobility to the legs resulted in a near fatal situation.

  • Imagine a situation where there are no cars, no horse to ride, no mules, donkeys, goats, rams or any of that stuff to ride

  • Imagine a situation where the knowledge of domesticating animals have not been known

  • Imagine a place where the only way to get around was by walking, surely your legs would soon become your most valuable asset, taking you anywhere you want to go

Before domestication of animals became a thing, and before the discovery of agriculture, man was a hunter-gatherer type of animal. Only an animal amongst other animals.

Thy feet is important

All those are in the past though, but that's just a brief look at how man evolved and and more importantly how important the human feet was then

These days the feet is looked down upon (no pun intended) since we basically use cars and horses and what not to convey ourselvesto9 different places.

This new series is hoping to showcase the importance of the different human body parts to everyone, talking bout the uses in the past, and how the absense of it could affect us in diverse ways.
