I think the salient point is that successful people went through much practical trial and error. In their biographies they address the importance of a bouncing back mentality, often giving examples of their past failure. Now, most readers who want to imitate them rather exercise cherry-picking, trying to obviate those hardships. And this the clincher from my perspective, because you cannot 'really' imitate failure. It is your own unique experience of failure, and this makes you special.

I have recently read a good thing about failure: You never fail or succeed, you just get results.
Yeah, a very good perspective, because if we see it that way we don't adhere so much to the 'negative' impact, thus are able to move on quicker! Thanks for sharing ;)
