5 Things I wish to tell my younger self

IMG-20180126-WA0016.jpgSometimes I wish I could turn around that time wheel of life rest the timeline. But what better way is there to learn from the mistake of ourselves and others ?! So here are fine things I wish I could let me younger self know and hoping the younger ones to me who are going through it won't repeat the same mistakes as I did.

Don't listen to those who say grades don't matter.

I finished my schooling as a topper of the batch and joined college. I listened to too many people saying "grades don't matter. Look at him/her, they got that good position even with that low score. Slowly slowly, semester but semester I implemented that thought into my life and I completed my degree with not so great grades. Coming to the reality, did it matter? It absolutely did, at least for what I was assuming at. So kids, have that friend or senior who encourages you to skip the lecture or anything that comes in the way of your degree? Then either ignore that voice or shut them up. Grades do matter or at least the skills that comes with the degree and knowledge do matter.

Take that position and opportunity. Stop doubting your capabilities.

I was offered a lead position and I was confused if I am good enough carry on with the position and refused it. The coming years I saw the person who replaced me being a complete idiot at it and till date I regret it. So if I could go back in time and redo anything I would start off with taking that position and grow up with the responsibilities along the way.

It's okay not to know everything and not to have everything to start.

I had this dream, this passion I dearly preserved in my mind. I always found I lack the perfect resources to start with the first step. But it was okay to be imperfect. It was not a crime to have the professional quality for a beginner. And it was okay to ask for help and direction. Dear younger self, you fell down many times before you learned to walk. Just start with it and you'll eventually get the knack of it.

No you're not going to clear that doubt yourself by reading it later. Ask now. And stop procrastinating.

Often times I used to hesitate to raise my hand to ask doubts. I used to think I'll go and Google it later, which never happened. Instead the doubts piled up and I ignored the topics. So let me tell you this kiddo, the teachers are not going to be annoyed with the questions. Mailing someone again to clarify is not a sin. And no you're not going to listen to that recorded lecture the day before the exam so listen carefully in the classroom, Now !

Listen to your gut and follow your heart.

This intuitions about how a person can be a bad friendship? Yes, that's true. Listen to that voice inside you and act on it. It is not necessary to give someone many chances. Learn to trust again and heal the wounds. Follow your heart and give value to your interests. At the end of the day it's not the job or people around you who is going to make you happy. It's going to be yourself and the small world inside of you. So pick up that instrument and learn to play it. Go for that swimming class after winter. And finish that poem.

You see, even if you ignore your inner voice thousand times, universe has a way of reminding you of what you had left. There is a time and season for everything that you thought you lost in life. There is always the present moment to start with everything you wished for. So live that life to the fullest. Value each and every nanosecond of your existence. So take those lemons and make lemonade or lemon tea and have fun.
