Hillbilly hot tub: Looks like a terrible idea

I am a redneck. I am proud of this. "Redneck" is something that is normally looked up as a bad thing and for a lot of our members it is a bad thing. Some rednecks are dumb as rocks and seem to be almost proud of their ignorance, others in the redneck community, like myself and just people who appreciate the simple things in life, don't really need a lot to be happy, mostly ignore fashion and commercialism, are good working with our hands, and have a strong dedication towards family.

We probably also mostly like country music and tend to be conservative. Not all of us are idiots but as someone that hangs out at the redneck bar for a few drinks after work almost every day, I can certainly say that a lot of the rednecks definitely are idiots.

Even some ideas that are just kind of amazing that someone pulled it off look like strong contenders for something that can cause horrible harm to a person. Like this recent find that a fellow redneck pointed out to me that is known as the "Hillbilly hot tub."

It made international news and this just kind of shows that anything can make the news. I was kind of happy that they were not making fun of the "inventor" Paul Vaughan, in the story, but they really should have put some sort of disclaimer on this.

I dont' think very many people have a fish pond liner and an outboard motor just hanging around, but if you do, I highly recommend that you do NOT do this. Perhaps you are unaware of this, but motors on boats can be friggin deadly if it touches you.

This is one of the EXTREMELY TAME images I found from searching for "outboard motor injury" on an image search. There are others that I found that were extremely gruesome and kind of turned my stomach. I'll let you decide if you want to search for those but basically it is a stockpile of mangled flesh and missing limbs that came from people FAFO'ing with these very powerful motors that need to be respected or you pay the price!

Think about what a motor for a boat actually is for a second ok? it is a rather small disk with BLADES on it that rotates fast enough to move a rather heavy vehicle in a body of water, even against a current going the other direction This is something that is rotating extremely fast and will cut you to ribbons if it makes contact with you.

I know of a guy that was hit by a boat while scuba diving and emerged without using the bright orange "safety sausage" and was struck by a boat and he faced two challenges that day: For one he nearly bled out on the ocean and later and a dozen or so surgeries later he actually got to keep his arm. It didn't look like he was going to be able to for a while there and even today he has quite limited movement and some mangled to hell scars because of it.

I remember this scene from a film called "Major League" that came out when I still lived with my parents and my dad took this as a learning moment for me to inform me about what actually creating one of these things could do to you. Not only are you contending with a rotating razor in a tub with you, but that water that is is throwing at you? well that is coming from the same tub that you are sitting in and do you know what that means?

It means it is going to pull you towards it as well. This is absolutely madness in my mind. I think there are certain things that you need to respect the power of in life and combustion motors are one of them.

If you have a spare outboard motor I would suggest that you either attach it to a boat, attach it to someone else's boat, or sell it. Do NOT make your own Jacuzzi with it.
