Facebook founder will donate 3 billion dollars to cure diseases
Along with his wife, Mark Zuckerberg announced that it will donate $ 3 billion over the next decade.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife promised to donate $ 3 billion over the next decade to contribute to the prevention and cure of diseases and thus ensure them their daughter a better future.
"It is an ambitious goal," Zuckerberg said Wednesday, during an event in San Francisco announcing this new donation from Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, the foundation founded with his wife, Priscilla Chan. Their daughter was born last year.
Mark Zuckerberg believes that, given the average life expectancy, this donation will enable the Foundation to have sufficient means to the end of the century to discover treatments against all diseases, or manage those who currently are deadly.
Priscilla Chan, who is a doctor by profession, said this does not mean that there are no more sick children, but their number will be reduced. This investment is a first effort the couple Zuckerberg hopes to be "collectively".
They want to create a high biological center in San Francisco, where researchers and scientists work on developing means to study and better understand diseases.
