Overcoming osteosarcoma ... the story of Rafa a happy survivor
Rafa is our golden retriver. He is 9 years old and part of our family. When he turned 5 he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of the left forelimb. The diagnosis was devastating, because the rate of survival to osteosarcoma is very short. However, in February 2018, Rafa turned 9 years old.
The survival of osteosarcoma does not exceed one year, after the amputation the veterinarian warned us that Rafa's life expectancy was limited. However, given the side effects of chemotherapy, we decided not to administer it. So Rafa advanced for 4 years and happily in 2018 he celebrated his 9 years of happy existence.
Those who have lived through this terrible situation, we tell them not to lose hope, Rafa is a very happy survivor and has defeated cancer ..

Venciendo el osteosarcoma... la historia de Rafa un feliz sobreviviente
Rafa es nuestro golden retriver. Tiene 9 años de edad y forma parte de nuestra familia. Cuando cumplió 5 años le detectaron osteosarcoma de la extremidad delantera izquierda. El diagnóstico fue devastador, porque el índice de sobrevivencia al osteosarcoma es muy breve. Sin embargo en febrero de 2018, Rafa cumplió 9 años.
La sobrevivencia del osteosarcoma no supera el año, luego de la amputación el veterinario nos advirtió que las expectativas de vida de Rafa, eran limitadas. Sin embargo dados los efectos colaterales de la quimioterapia, decidimos no administrársela. Así Rafa avanzó durante 4 años y felizmente en 2018 cumplió sus 9 años de feliz existencia.
A quienes les ha tocado vivir esta situación tan terrible, les decimos que no pierdan las esperanzas, Rafa es un sobreviviente muy feliz y ha vencido al cáncer…
