How to build your own Tiny House - Part 1 (Tiny House Movement)

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Recently I came in contact with the so called 'Tiny House Movement'.

This is a community of people that doesn't value spacey and expensive houses like the regular individual. Instead they rather spent their financial capital on the things that 'really' matter and enjoy the simpler lifestyle. These people normally live in stand alone houses smaller than 50m2 which, in most cases, are mobile as well. Now I know myself well enough to understand that this living is not suited for me personally. But a tiny house would make, in my perspective, a great holiday accommodation.

If you are interested and too lazy to build one on your own, you could buy one from one of the multiple small and medium sized enterprises that offer these houses.

Me, I would rather design and build my own as this is not only much cheaper, but it also seems like a very valuable experience (before you starting on building some sort of enormous palace). To be more familiar with the building process and the associated steps, I am starting on posting a step by step guide of relevant tutorial videos I've found online. This makes the online search for most people a lot easier (believe me, LOL).

Every building (design) starts off with the fundament. It's what carries the whole building and is essential for the accommodation. It's extremely important these get installed right, because other wise your house won't survive long.
The most informative and clearest video I've found online is that of Jon Peters.

Let me know if you appreciate these posts. In that case I'll continue posting them.
Cheers!
