Relationships: Actions Speak Louder Than Words

in #life6 years ago (edited)

“When all is said and done, more is always said than done.”

“It isn’t what we say or think that defines us, but what we do.” – Jane Austen

What people do is more significant than what they say. We need to be constantly aware of our actions as it portrays our true character. Do not say things or make promises you do not intend to keep. It is easy to throw words around, but it requires integrity (honesty, honour, righteousness, morality, virtue, decency, fairness, sincerity, truthfulness, trustworthiness) to back them up with actions.

“If you do not have integrity, you have nothing. You can’t buy it, you can have all the money in the world, but if you are not a moral and ethical person, you really have nothing.” - Henry Kravis

“Love is sustained by action, a pattern of devotion in the things we do for each other every day.”

"Actions should meet verbal commitments, not conflict them. If you promise something, people might not believe you until they see you actually do it. If we give off two contradictory messages, verbal and nonverbal, people will have the tendency to believe the nonverbal over the verbal." - Ashley Fern from Elite Daily

There are certain feelings that cannot be expressed in only words, they require actions to manifest them. The words “I love you” will mean nothing if your behavior does not coincide with it because the person will simply not feel it. Love is a feeling for others that goes beyond selfishness, it is a series of actions which positively effects the self-esteem and well-being of others. Love is nurturing and requires the constant expression of affection both physically and emotionally, and being compassionate and sensitive to others needs.

“Love thinks. It keeps busy in thought, knowing that loving thoughts precede loving actions.” – The Love Dare p.16

LET YOUR ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN YOUR WORDS

“Loving-kindness and compassion are the basis for wise, powerful, sometimes gentle, and sometimes fierce actions that can really make a difference in our own lives and those of others.” - Sharon Slazberg.
