Hello steemians!

Life. . . . . has its ups and downs, life, a function of the sum total events that occur within a timeframe for any individual between when he is born, and when he dies.(personal definition).

In all the years that I have lived on planet earth, I have had the opportunity to see and know that to be ''useful'' is to be successful. To be needed and wanted, is to be great, and to be remembered is the ultimate goal of any individual.

Many seek success, greatness and remembrance, but to have one or all of these, one needs to go through the flames of life.

And lets not forget that when going through the flames of life, one will fall a couple of times. A lot of people say when you fall, you get back up.

But while that is true, lets stay on the ground for a minute and reflect on a few things.

My life as a music producer is one which many do not see as fun, I stay in my room or in a studio all locked up, sometimes up to 18hrs a day, only taking quick power naps and breaks to ''air'' out the ears.

Subsequently, my hearing is a bit more degraded than others, or more correctly, will be more degraded than others by the time i am old.

When I started this out a few years ago, I had terrible production capacity. While I could play the piano,I could do very little else and the thought of giving up seemed pleasing. I fell so to speak, and I fell hard. Not once or twice, I fell and still fall many times. Whenever I hit a snag, it is sure to be trouble, as Spartans in the halo game series knows;
''snags are bad news''

I spent hours pouring into books, and I still do, hours mixing and remixing free works. I knew no one, but I had a passion, a drive , a source of energy.

Let your passion be your drive and your work

You may be wondering what someone enjoys in suffering himself for hours on end in a room, just listening and listening to music, but that is my passion, my drive, my source of energy!

I choose the line of work that makes me never quit.

This, above, is what I want to tie to the saying ''when you fall, get back up.

Because getting back up after a fall isn't so easy, it means starting over, it means scrapping the previous plans and going over fresh ones.

One of the worst thing to happen to a runner in a racing event is to fall down. It takes a lot of energy and determination to get back up, and a lot of hoping and faith to continue running. A runner that falls will almost never catch up to their mates, but that should not stop the runner who has a passion for what he does!

Same thing for any other profession, life may be on a down-stroke right now, as I have come to observe multiple times(life goes between zones of good and bad for me), but at the same time, if you do what you love, as your main source of work, then no amount of downhill movement should be sufficient to stop you from getting back up.

Even then, doing what you love might not be enough

I could stop this post by dropping a motivational quote or piece of advice at the top, but I feel that does not do justice to what many are seeking.

I know that many are trying and success seems to be eluding them.

I have a college professor who says, ''if the current method isn't working, change it''

Back to my music example, I remember when I did my first afrobeat track, it was so whack, yet a few of my friends said it was good.

I had limited knowledge, but none of the experience.

Experience and uniqueness

In the music industry, a genre that is created today, is sure to get flooded with similar sounding songs withing the coming month or two. As a result, continuous innovation is expected of any producer.

Being unique, entails having enough experience with a certain service or product that you are able to carve out a piece of yourself into the said service.

Imprinting your signature and creativity into a work, and being different(in a good way though, because being unique doesn't mean one is useful sometimes!)

Sure everybody may know how to type in the office, but what edge do you have over everyone else?

everyone may be good at cooking, but what makes yours taste different and good?

Be persistent, be experienced, be different.
