RE: Traditional Chinese Medicine - The Medicine of Prevention
This is pretty informative, nice post. What would you (or anyone else) recommend for someone that suffers from chronic migraines? I'm asking because I am sick of western doctors pushing horrible, addictive medications that aren't helping cure the problem, only mask the symptoms.
Hi. I have seen a lot of patients over the years who have to come to me because they were tired of taking medication for their migraines. The good thing about Chinese medicine, and the reason it works so well, is that the migraine is seen as the symptom and we are trying to get to the root of why you are having the migraines. The reasons can be numerous, which is why a practitioner will do a lengthy, detailed intake with a complete medical history to try to figure out why you are having the migraines, and the reasons will be different for everyone. In that way, the treatment is tailored to each person and their particular migraine. I would suggest finding an acupuncturist in your area and trying it.
I will also be sure to write an article about Chinese medicine and migraines in the near future to give you some background on how it all works which might be able to help you.
