Have you found the "Open Mic" contests yet? There are entries for covers and original music - you can do both. There is also a karaoke contest. @killerwhale hosts the karaoke one, and @luzcypher does the open mic ones. Also, LOTS of poetry contests, which are just songs without music, ya' know... lol!
