MENTAL SLAVERY, AFRICA'S MISFORTUNE

The rude of shock of the slavery of Africans in Libya paints a picture of the realities of our times and a reminder to everyone one of us that Freedom, Prosperity and progress is a collective effort and that our destiny lies in our hands. Most of the guys sold into slavery in Libya today, were doing just fine in their localities. They only took the risk to pursue greener pastures in Europe but fail to realize that it is the collective efforts, sacrifices and sweat of Europeans that makes the continent what it is today. So why would they want to share that with "outsiders"? The bitter truth is, if we don't change that mindset and do it now, the trend will continue and we might even see worse situations.
The sad reality is, the European man, Asian or American man is in no way better than the African man but the inability of the African to cohesively and sacrificially make a commitment to making his continent better, beginning with his Immediate neighbor, has been the bane of Africa"s problems.
Truth be told, the times are hard. I know because I feel it too. A lot of people can no longer afford the basic things of life but I still thank God for what I have, because it could have been worse and even in this state, some people still look up to me for assistance. The governments have failed us, the politicians as well. So we are left with the option of looking to ourselves especially the entrepreneurs amongst us to think and come up with ideas that will help alleviate this ugly situation we find ourselves.
Think about it,, Nigeria has an estimated population of 200 MILLION PEOPLE and Lagos State about 20 MILLION. Imagine if I am able to sell DVD copies of my movie at #500 each to just a fraction of this population say 100,000, revenue will be #50 MILLION NAIRA. Imagine the number of jobs an investment of that size can create and the multiplier effect of that but unfortunately, some of my people would rather see the amount of money FRED LAWANSON stand to generate and express apathy rather than give that their insignificant but powerful support which if properly harnessed, can stop at least someone from embarking on a journey to Europe via Libya or save someone from committing suicide due to poverty or even from committing avoidable crimes . We need to and we must change this ugly mindset.

P. S
Funding for this project will not come from government or from my pocket ( I don't even have it) but if people that believe in me or in this kind of effort can make simple, small commitments like buying my movie for #500 or sending a token contribution, then we can achieve something meaningful just like in Genesis 11:6 (The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them) but If we fail which I pray we don't , at least it will go down in history that someone stepped forward.
Thank you.
Fred Lawanson
