Fact: Our world is changing!

Is our world changing (1).png

Hey Stemians!

I recently found something great on the Internet! It's a website called ourworld in data on which you can have a look on the ongoing history of human civilization, amazingly well researched and visualized threw diagrams.

Postiv changes first

Living conditions for humans have risen.

Yes, statistics prove, that living conditions for humans are increasing threw the last centuries. The world is getting more peaceful, more democratic and more educated. It also seems like many understand that wars between huge state can't be won anymore. So wars are getting smarter and I guess technological and economic fights are much more efficient then battlefields.

Do we still have to talk about negative changes?

Well the question is:

Will any of the graphs below cause a decrease of the life conditions on our earth in the next century?

CO2 emissions

World Population

Scientist say the maximum our world can handle is 10 billion people.

Not only the limited availability of fresh water will cause us problems, because even if we plant with maximum efficiency the world is only big enough to feed 10 Billion people.

Due to LIVE.SCIENCE:

"Even in the case of maximum efficiency, in which all the grains grown are dedicated to feeding humans (instead of livestock, which is an inefficient way to convert plant energy into food energy), there's still a limit to how far the available quantities can stretch. "If everyone agreed to become vegetarian, leaving little or nothing for livestock, the present 1.4 billion hectares of arable land (3.5 billion acres) would support about 10 billion people," Wilson wrote."

To put it in a nutshell:

It seems like our world can handle a lot. It survived Wipe out of species and atomic bombs.
But until we reach 10 Billion people we need to change our consumption or our world wouldn't support the demand of food we need to grow without people starving.

What do you think about the future?

The only part I have a problem with is “democracy”. We will see if that stands.

Growth of population is the biggest problem India is facing now. According to Govt. research India will soon beat China.
