Is there any truth to the idea / perhaps "rumor" that the American government controls a majority of the TOR nodes by now? Which means that, even if it seems anonymous in theory, they are able to track us since they control the network.

Us common folk may never know, but if there is a chance that it is not, compared to the 100% guarantee Google etc are... well then, where does one go?
