Honesty Costs Nothing - But Everything Else Could Be Killing Your Relationship
The following is a short yet enlightening statement that I hope will make you stop the lying habit today: Honesty costs nothing! In other words, you cannot get something for nothing. Lying never does and living without knowing the truth always will. Learn and live without being deceived and you'll win the game of life without a struggle!
What is really meant by honesty costs nothing is when you are found out to be lying you will lose your credibility, reputation and good name. You will be branded as a cheater and nothing will erase the damage that lies do to people. When you lie you also destroy the trust and relationship between you and your spouse or partner and this is not what you want to achieve.
Why do people cheat? Because they have lost their trust in their partner or spouse. They no longer believe in their partner's honesty and they feel afraid of being caught. They want to find someone else to rely on so they avoid putting themselves under investigation.
Once a cheater has destroyed your trust in them self and in the relationship, your work and social life will be adversely affected. Your social life may suffer and you might start to avoid company with others because of fear of what they will find out. The only reason someone cheats is because they feel a lack of trust in their own abilities and in their partner or spouse. They cannot face the world without their partner and they keep secrets to keep you from knowing what they are up to. It is easy to control a lie but the person who is being deceived has to fight back every time they use their dishonesty.
So what is honesty worth if it costs you your whole relationship and trust? Lying can never be justified by an argument that it costs someone else their trust and honesty. If you have to choose between your trust being broken and your relationship then go for the relationship. Honesty is worth preserving relationships over cheating.
The second point is that dishonesty always leaves a stain on the person who is deceived. Once your integrity is compromised it takes a lifetime to rebuild. Cheaters often feel ashamed of their disloyalty and they are reluctant to repeat their disloyalty once their partner discovers the truth. They will lie about their spouse in order to cover up their disloyalty!
So how does dishonesty cost you your relationship and trust? The worst part is that if you know for sure that your partner is cheating, there is no way to prove it. If your partner were to confess their infidelity to you they would not only risk their own friendship, but their family as well. The cost of their dishonesty is far greater than the cost of their infidelity.
So what do I have to lose by putting my integrity and honesty on the line by telling the truth about my mate? Everything! Not only will I have restored my partner's trust and honesty, I will have saved myself from a painful breakup, I will have avoided a possible divorce, and I will have avoided endless arguments with my partner! Honesty pays.
It is important to remember that your partner probably doesn't even want to hear the truth. The truth hurts and destroys everything they have been working for. It is a terrible thing to face but it is a necessity. You must face it. If you are looking for a solution instead of a problem, then you have to tell the truth about your mate.
