They're not doing it because of you

in #life7 years ago

Their agenda is not to mess up your life

You're going to work. To an appointment. To go see your friend, to the airport. Somewhere.

You're in your car, following the speed limit, listening to some music, being a responsible driver and all.

What a lovely day, you think to yourself. This is gonna be simply wonderful.

"I'm on my way to go see this awesome friend I haven't seen in ages. Oh, I wonder what they've been up to."

Out of nowhere, a car cuts you off, appears in your lane, causing you to slam on the brakes.

"What a fucking asshole", you yell in your car as you honk at him, cussing how he could be speeding on this peaceful road.

Clearly he didn't give a flying fuck about you. What's more, he did it to piss you off. Yes, that must be it! You're convinced.

Baby alarm

Now, here's where the fun begins.

Because if you find yourself interpreting situations like these as described above, there might be a problem.

Let's look at it from the speeder's point of view.

Of course, in his mind his wasn't doing anything wrong. Or maybe he was. But not intentionally.

After all, he had his pregnant wife whose water just broke in the backseat of his car.

What would you have done in his situation? Go nice and steady and not cut anybody off, or go a little faster than usual to get your wife to the hospital?

At lunch

After you met your friend for lunch and complained to him for the first five minutes of the interaction about how you've been cut off and how life is always against you, your waiter is ready to take your order.

Thankful for a change of pace in the conversation your friend orders and so do you. Perfect.

You resume your conversation with your friend doing some catching up, even listening to his stories for a while, pushing the self-centered urge to share some gossip aside,

Until your lunch arrives

Which is a complete disaster for you.

Because it has cheese in it. Which you clearly stated you didn't want in that fancy avocado toast since you're lactoseintolerant.

But that stupid waiter of course somehow knew, and gave the kitchen wrong instructions because he wanted to see gas up the restaurant.

Urgh. Why is everyone out to ruin my day today, you think.

Life as a waiter

Can be hectic. Stressful. Demanding.

Customer's treating you like robots, expecting you to have an accurate idea of what they'd like when asking for a recommendation.

It certainly isn't easy. Especially around lunch time, when you're only two instead of the usual four waiters.

Naturally, a slip up in one of the orders can occur.

After all, you're trying to give the customer the best experience possible as you are the point of contact, the interaction between restaurant and foodie.

On your way home

Your maid calls you telling you that she's sick and won't be able to come in tomorrow.

Urgh, that bitch. How am I gonna go the spa and pick up my children from school now? And who's gonna clean the house, which has been perfectly cleaned just now, then? Questions that already have you worrying about tomorrow.

Something you can't influence in any way.

Lessons

While the speeder was saving his wife, the waiter stressed and tired and the maid simply having a bad day, getting a cold, working for you, all you looked at was how those people tried to ruin your life.

They did all this because they wanted to make your life harder. Obviously.

Now, if you think about it and put yourself in their shoes, this doesn't make any sense.

They all had their own agenda, stuff to do. They didn't think about how they could negatively impact your life once. Quite the opposite.

The maid probably felt bad letting you down, while the waiter was already worried about his tip and how the restaurant's reputation was on the line.

Not once did they intentionally try to fuck up your day.

But some people like to look at life that way.

That everything bad that happens to them is done by the other person on purpose. That they're out to get them. To ruin their life.

Relax

And put yourself in their shoes the next time you're about to go berserk. Chances are you'll find a scenario in which you would have done the same.

Interesting story

Exactly! A lot of people stress about every situation too much. I always try to look at the positive side of things. If someone "fucks up" my day, I never really think they intentionally did it. We are all humans and we all make mistakes from time to time. Don't let anyone's else mistake ruin your day or mood. Everyone has their own reasons for doing something and not a lot of people realize this.

nice story i like this story also writing was amazing keep it up great post best of luck ....

Very nice post, we could all make a move to consider the other person’s situation.

Beat the driver, ask waiter (politely) to bring sandwich that you wanted because he made a mistake. And it's not a big deal if maid won't clean your apartment one time lol.
You can always fire your maid or beat the waiter later if you have an appropriate mood. And not because they tried to ruin your day lmao.

See, easily solved! I'm genius!

Life, as they say, is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we respond to it. Great post, loved your examples and it's true. In addition, when we get angry and struggle, resist the universe, we push away our own success. We put ourselves in a bad position and we reap what we sow.

excellent post today once again you are a great steemian :D
