#Ulog - Don't Quit: Things I Learned in steemit - Blog #4

in #life7 years ago (edited)

2 months ago, my account in steemit was approved. That time, I was so excited to write my introduction blog.

I found myself scribbling my thoughts.
I posted it eventually and waited for people to notice it.

Guess what.

After 7 days of posting, my first blog earned 3 votes and $0.02 dollars.

The feeling is unexplainable.
I review my post and I can't see anything wrong about it.

I tried to read other blogs, I felt envied because their blogs are flooded with comments and upvotes.

Until, @milarpatricia introduced me to @steemitpowerupph. I was able to interact with other Filipino bloggers. Special thanks to @cliff79 who keeps on giving his feedbacks about my post.

Now, I'm also part of @steemitgreetersguild and @newbieresteem in discord. I was able to meet people around the world who appreciates my craft.

During those times, I was able to learn few things.

My buddies whenever I craft something to post. :)

-You are never alone
Here in steemit, you have to be part of a community. They are just around waiting to be noticed. There are lots of helping hands willing to support, help, and care for your work.

-Somebody appreciates your work
What I love about steemit, people here are so constructive. They seldom give negative feedbacks. They comment for your own improvements and nothing else.

-Appropriate tags are important
One of my mistakes in my first blog is appropriate tagging. Tags should at least give our readers hint of what are writing, quoted from Sir @dclass6. I'm not yet an expert about tags but at least I'm better now.

-Be creative
I'm investing some time to study markup styling guide. I guess creativeness in writing our blogs are never outdated. It should be attractive and interesting for our readers.

-Socialize: Upvote, Comment, & Resteem
Though I love to appreciate things in silence, it's a different thing in steemit. I learned to put up my comments to uplift fellow bloggers souls. I myself, feel appreciated whenever I see people commenting on my posts. I also upvote and try to resteem blogs of newbie like me

-Don't focus too much on the earnings
Lastly, if you are too concerned about earnings, I guess steemit is not for you. For me, this is not an income faucet platform, I view this as a place for writers to express themselves. Getting something out from your contents is just a bonus.

I almost quit steemit

But I'm still here, storming my brain to put up helpful and good contents

There are more reasons to stay rather than to quit, so guys PLEASE DON'T QUIT

Keep steeming guys! :)

This is a wonderful writeup. This is not a place to focus on earnings alone indeed. I just joined your messenger group, hopefully I get to learn a thing or two. We lift each other up, that's the best way to go far in life.

Yes Ma'am, if you put too much on earning upvotes and very particular on how much you'll earn, you'll just end up disappointed. We'll assure you that you can learn something from our messenger group :)

It's perfectly normal to have this impulse of quitting. A great way for you not to quit is to search for people you regularly engage upon thru comments and replies acknowledging each other's great pieces. Once you considered them already as friends, quitting this program would make you feel bad. Leaving good friends and same minded people are hard to say goodbye with. Hope this helps.

Thank God, I was able to find these people who really help me with my blogs. Yes, this is indeed a great help. Thank you Sir. :)

This is such a great motivational post. You have provided us with some knowledgeable advice and we couldn't agree more with what you have suggested. Many of us have come close to quitting but it is great people like you who keep those who get discouraged, in a great state of mind to continue.

Congratulations, you have been featured in the Steemit Greeters Guild Curation Spotlight: Volume 1! This daily publication was created with goal of bringing extra attention to undervalued users. We hope you find this motivational to continue with the great work.

Thank you for featuring my post in our daily spotlight. Our growing family inspired me as well to continue writing :)

Thank you for your encouragement. I have been off the plot for a while with other stuff and feeling relieved my desk is clear enough for me to get back to where I enjoy more than endure!

I'm so glad that you were encourage with my post. I loved to light up souls of budding writers like me here in steemit :) Let's keep steeming :)

I have been into discord a few times and frankly am confused! I think this old brain of mine had best get used to steemit itself first. Still trying to work out how to login to steemit on my phone as well as steepshot - both require, I gather, the super long password. Have yet to figure that out.
There seems to be several groups within discord - again - have yet to explore, but thanks for the invite!

Really nice post keep on steeming mam.

Hehe . Your words of encouragement are powerful sir :)

@jaycelanne well-written guidelines for newbie and I think it also apples to seasoned Steemian.
I clicked on the discord link but the invite is invalid.
Please check your link again
Cheers

I hope I was able to inspire the newbies enough . I'm so sorry for that invalid discord invitation . I got to check it . Thank you Sir .

your post indeed should be able to inspire the newbies.
No problem with the broken link

Nice article. I can completely relate to you. I have been active since December. I had to change my outlook like you did. I would find myself getting frustrated at people who posted a video they stole off of YouTube and be upvoted hundreds of dollars. And my post would get .30 and that would be for trying to help others grow. Pretty sad state. All I can say Is I've earned what I do have and I will get there.

A lot of times we will feel quitting because our expectations are not met. But unheard words will be listened to one day . We'll wait for that day :)

I hear you. I ask myself the same thing just about everyday. I think that's why I have been spending s much 'behind the scenes' I've really been trying to make the effort to connect with people. If we can get that far and then support each other. It will work. There are so many that are tired of how things are going. Which is my main reasons for joining the groups I have.

I may not be big on discord chatting away. I will do my best on here to try to keep others going.
