Eating fruits with other foods high in protein, fiber and fat can reduce the rate of sugar from the fruit into the small intestine, resulting in a slight increase in blood sugar, compared with eating only fruit.
Therefore, it is advisable to consume fresh fruit rich in minerals, vitamins, flavanoids and antioxidants. Fruit is also better not consumed before bed.

Hey @jon92, would just like to note that consuming anything in excessive amounts (even fruits) can lead to weight-gain and not weight-loss. So remember, healthy means everything in the right proportions... whatever proportions may suite your body type, activity levels and metabolism that is.
