Very important observation there.
Consistency is the state or quality of being regular. while rigidity is the inability to be to bent or be forced out of shape.

Basically, I'd say rigidity is an extreme of consistency. On another hand, consistency can be adjusted a little in the process to adapt to current trends or avoid mistakes, while rigidity doesn't accept adjustments easily.
