A new book "Death by Regulation - how we were robbed of a golden age of health and how we can reclaim it" is coming out in a few days.
"In the 1980's we knew that folic acid (a B vitamin) would prevent neural tube defects like Spina Bifida in children, but you had to take it in the first month of pregnancy. The manufacturers wanted to tell the public about their finding but the FDA said they would shut them down if they did so because they wanted this vitamin to go through the regulatory process before they could make the claim. Even though the CDC made the recommendation, the FDA threatened to not even mention another gov agency was making the recommendation - stalling this information from reaching the public for 12 years." My son was born with a bone disease, Osteogenesis Imperfect - a collegen deficiency that makes the bones more brittle, aka Br
ittle bone disease.
This leads me to want to dive into learning how the FDA has tried to regulate medicine for our O.I family and possibly has prevented a cure or better medicine.
