The 5 most beautiful landscapes in Germany part-4
There are plenty of beautiful places in Germany - from Rügen to Saxon Switzerland to the Alps. The varied nature of meter-high rock formations, lush green landscapes, white seemingly endless cliffs or unbelievable deep-blue lakes not only inspires visitors in this country, but from all over the world.
This will be the fourth part of 4 episodes.
1. Waldnaabtal, Oberpfalz, Bayern
The Waldnaab rises in the Upper Palatinate Forest, close to the border with the Czech Republic, flows after a few meters and immediately over and returns less than 1.5 km later back to Bavaria. Between Falkenberg and Windischeschenbach, the little river then shows its full beauty. Water, granite and erosion have created with the Waldnaabtal a true natural wonder that is romantic and wild at the same time. If you like to hike, you can be enchanted by a fairytale landscape of forest, water and unique rock formations.
2. Morsum-Kliff, Sylt, Schleswig-Holstein
The Morsum cliff is a cliff that stretches along the east coast of Sylt near the Hindenburg dam over a length of about 2000 meters. The picturesque, protected area is a unique geotope in Europe. Earth layers from the last 10 million years have not stacked on top of each other but side by side, which is related to the last ice age and the pressure exerted by the glaciers. The surrounding area can also be seen with heathland and mudflats and invites you to walks and explorations.
3. Lusen, Naturpark Bayerischer Wald, Bayern
The Lusen is the third highest elevation in the Bavarian Forest and a popular hiking destination, as the 1373m high summit offers panoramic views in all directions. His peak, covered in granite boulders, is also particularly popular, as legend has it. He had amassed all the treasures of the world and then covered them with rocks and stones to protect them from other thieves. In fact, the tip of the Lusen is a geological feature due to erosion, which does not detract from the beauty of the legend.
4. Müritz, Mecklenburgische Seenplatte, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
With 116 square kilometers, the Müritz is the largest lake in Germany. It is located in the middle of the land of a thousand lakes in the Mecklenburg Lake District. A paradise for water sports enthusiasts, water walkers and nature lovers, because the eastern shore of the lake belongs to the Müritz National Park with its unique flora and fauna. The largest city on the shores of the Müritz is Waren, where every year in May, the Müritz Sail, a large lake sailing event, takes place: For the Müritz is also an ideal sailing area, with beautiful small harbors and good anchorages near the shore.
5. Blautopf, Schwäbische Alb, Baden-Württemberg
The blue glowing karst spring in Blaubeuren on the edge of the Swabian Alb is a magical, legendary place. Eduard Mörike even dedicated her the fairy tale of the "Beautiful Lau". This melancholy mermaid has been banished to the blue pot, but learns to laugh again due to the cheerful inhabitants of Blaubeuren, which ultimately leads to their salvation. She is also dedicated to a statue today. Incidentally, the intense color of the water does not come from the fact that ink is poured into the blue pot, but is due to the lime content of the water and the associated light scattering.
