A child starved to death in Montenegro (RESTEEM ONLY PLEASE - NO UPVOTES)

Montenegro is a small Balkan county with around 600,000 population. It is one of the fastest growing economies in the world with very developed tourism and financial sector. The country is set to join the EU in few years and has already got a greater Human Development Index than some EU member states. It fares way better than most their neighbors, but there is still high inequality and underlying poverty.

On the pic is affected family. They live in the capital city of Podgorica, which has the highest living standard in the country. Despite Montenegro boasts very low unemployment rates, the husband left the wife and children, leaving them jobless and homeless. She worked part-time to try to secure money for rent, utilities, and some food, but struggled badly. Unfortunately, the 2-year old girl - the one in the middle - succumbed to starvation Wednesday evening.

The government is also to blame for this, as in 2017 they abruptly discontinued handing out financial support to families of three or more children. There was no spare time left for them to adopt the new situation. Despite it is a small and very fast growing economy, it still has serious problems with poverty and crime.
