Numb comfort in First World Blues
The truth is that first worlders are lost in a wonderland of numb comfort, with no way of seeing outside of their cell.
This cell, a system of psychological control as a kind of augmented reality interposed with the media, education, government and police.
For now there are still opportunities to change things and to make a difference. But how many are sitting back watching dystopian futures on Netflix, doing near bugger all. Then there are those who claim to have 'stood up' and are apparently 'doing something'. These interesting individuals seem to 'hog' the truth to themselves and exhibit behaviour so far outside of the social norm that they detract others from the cause they are trying to follow themselves.
We need to be much more serious about our application to the truth we know. We must isolate ourselves from medias and entertainments in this society that serve to numb our senses and our powers of independent reasoning and critical analyses.
How can we actually make a change? How can we assist refugees that seem inaccessible but we go to these protests run by fringe political parties with a handful of people, believing that we are the beginning of the ball rolling. There is no significant growth in the attendance of these protests over the years; at least while I've been alive in the comfort wonderland called Australia. It is so far from the amount of outrage that should be exhibited by the public for the abuses of human rights that have taken place under our gun.
Let's be serious, objective and honest about our situation. If we are really going to 'help' people that really need it, we're going to have to play the game by the rules.
Humans are herd animals and are ruled by their desires and collective decision making. This runs contrary to what we are taught in individualistic first world society education that raises us with an imbalanced and irrational sense of self-entitlement and identity. Most first worlders make decisions under the belief they are individuals with the capacity for free will. This just isn't what comes out in the wash. So first we must face this very integral fact if we are to move forward in our ability to move the public towards a better and happier collective future without abuse.
Next we must devise strategy. How do we market our cause? How do we make it hip? What is our audience? How must we present ourselves to the public in public demonstrations in order to be relateable by the status quo? What are the most effective areas for protest? What are the more effective times for protests and demonstrations?
Is staying in this first world country of numb desensitized people helping anybody at all? Being lost in a 9-5, taking a daughter to dance classes with little time for anything 'extra-curricular', what is being achieved? Let's ask ourselves some serious questions and make some serious decisions because the time to do this is quickly running out.
What if we all marketed ourselves as fun and exciting hipster personalities, and documented our nomadic trips around the world, making assisting those in need an exciting adventure necessary for self-development, in order to get an outrageously large salary as an LCD dropping director of some zany futuristic technology firm?
What if we made rebellion hip? What if we made standing for our rights hip? What if we made self-directive action and integrity as sexually desirable traits through clever marketing schemes?
Yes, it sickens me to death that we must manipulate poeple into standing for others and themselves in this world of gloom. But this is the situation we have been born into. We either deal with it and play by the rules or continue hitting our hard head against this brick wall.
What do you see will actually assist changing this world into a place we can all share a dream and fly higher than we ever have, instead of allowing scarcity survival based economics to dictate our behaviour?
Give me a valid suggestion. I'm listening...
In love,
Monty x
