Why I think a puppy is not the same as a baby

So many people have said to me.. oh you have a puppy, that’s the same as having a baby. As I have two children and one is a toddler, I can form my opinion from experience- this statement is not true.

Yes, a puppy barks, yes a puppy follows you around and loves attention, needs to be fed and watered 3/4 times a day and taken for walks. But it’s really not that much to adapt to.

Now, let’s take a brief look at a baby, a baby cries (a high pitched sound that can be heard in China), needs nappy change 10x a day, you can’t leave a baby- you take that baby every where, if you decide to breastfeed a baby will suck the life out of your breast and want to do this 20x a day, forget sleeping, leaving Home with a baby can be described as a military operation- one failure aborts the whole mission, did I mention babies cry for no reason? you’ll visit a doctor or hospital every single week to clarify everything, forget sex, forget anything for at least a year maybe more.

It does get easier but it’s a slow burner. And by that time- you’ll probably have another baby on the way.
