The Best Restaurant in the World: Warung Pondok Madu in Ubud, Bali
Hi Steemers, and welcome to the next installment of my series, The Best Restaurant in the World! If you'd like to see where it all started, you can read the first post here: https://steemit.com/life/@page-traveler/the-best-restaurant-in-the-world-kirishima-in-penang-malaysia
The current world champion is the Bee Hoon Stall in Penang, Malaysia. Today's challenger for the Best Restaurant in the World is Warung Pondok Madu in Ubud, Bali. It's a tourist warung (English menus, both traditional and Western food, much fancier than a 'real' warung) and its specialty is ribs.
I've been there a few times now. I've had the ribs (twice!) and also the Nasi Bira. Here it is:
Those who are familiar with Indonesian food will recognize nasi campur. I'm not sure what's up with the different name, but it's a great version of it. I especially loved those tiny deep-fried fish. Prices are very reasonable (32k RP to 75k RP, or about 2.25 USD to 5 USD) and they have great nonalcoholic drinks.
But the real question: how are their signature ribs? Answer: freaking fantastic. Opt for spicy.
Now, on to the judging!
To sum up:
Atmosphere: 4/5
Food: 5/5
To go or not to go: Go, but only order the shellfish if you're willing to take a long time and order some extra weight.
Price: $$
Global rank at time of review: #3
The Best Restaurant in the World
- Bee Hoon Stall at Good Corner in Penang, Malaysia
- Warung Pondok Madu in Ubud, Bali
- Kirishima Japanese Restaurant in Penang, Malaysia
- Warung Amphibia in Sanur, Bali
- 1885 in Penang Malaysia
It was amazing, but it can't quite unseat the Bee Hoon Stall! Still, Warung Pondok Madu takes an impressive second place, and it will be a difficult one to defeat.
