I would suggest the following terms for it in English:
one-track specialist (as you mention in your article) or restricted specialist, nerd or geek. Obviously there is not a real good translation for it. So I recommend to stick to the German word, as the English language has adopted so many other German words.
Yes I agree, this could be a very useful work for English speakers.
