A reflection of collective labor in rural life
A few people—especially children and teenagers—are seen working together on the dried-up bottom of a rural pond or reservoir. Most of the water in the pond has drained away, and they are collecting something from the clay-filled bottom, some with their hands, some with small pots. It can be assumed that they are busy catching fish or aquatic resources. This scene is a familiar image of rural life, where families and neighbors work together to make a living. When the pond dries up due to water shortages or seasonal changes, the fish that have accumulated there can be easily caught. Therefore, this time is seen as a kind of opportunity for the locals.
The participation of children is particularly noteworthy, which on the one hand portrays the image of family support, and on the other hand also reveals a real aspect of their childhood. The green rice fields and trees around bring the beauty of rural nature to life.
