10. Pando
°Photography Pando the heaviest organism of the planet earth.
At first glance, it seems nothing special with these trees because it looks just the usual trees in the forest Fishlake National Park, Utah. However, thanks to genetic testing, it is known that the forest covering an area of 46 hectares is actually a single clonal organism that grows from an ancient single seed. This tree is spreading because its roots are capable of sending buds that grow into what looks like individual trees.
Since all the trees in this forest (all about 47,000 trees) are part of the same organism, the behavior of the forest is also remarkable. For example, all forests transition simultaneously from winter to spring and use of extensive root tissues to distribute water and nutrients from excessive trees to underprivileged trees.
This condition corresponds to the name pando which means "I spread". The forest is estimated to be 80,000 years old, and overall estimated to weigh 6,600 tons, making it the heaviest and oldest organism on earth.
