The Burden and Strength of an African Woman

Africa is one of the continents that existed. A place comprising of many countries,many ethnic groups and many tribes.An African woman is a unique being.On a regular day,she wakes by 6am to prepare breakfast for her husband.She does all the housechores including sweeping,fetching water and cooking.She prepares her children for school too.She is responsible for any misfortune in the home whether she is aware or not.

Since marriages in traditional societies were highly polygamous,she was not obliged to accuse her husband of adultery or bigamy.In fact she was subject to him.She mortgages her sexual freedom to him.She is in charge of the home and all it's affairs.She is responsible for the future of the family.Her primary objective though to bear children is seen as one of the most important preferably a male child who will be the heir and leader of the family after the father's demise and situations where she is unable to bear a male child or a successor, she is seen as "polluted".

In cases where her husband is way-ward,she is always there working in the farm or selling and always striving to make ends meet.An African Woman doesn't enjoy the luxuries other women in the enjoy and if at all she does,she cherishes it.

In terms of settlement of disputes,her decisions are always second to that of her husband in other words,her husband has the finally say.Prior to the death of her husband, an African Woman isn't subject to her husband's properties unless it was willed to her or her male son if she has any.She is constantly blamed for the death of her husband. As traumatizing as that may be,she endures them.Most importantly African Woman are black and beautiful.Shoutout to all African women out there, let no one drain you of your energy.
