Today I have been a father for a decade! Happy birthday Aime!
Ten years ago this day I met someone who changed my life forever.
Of course I am speaking of my daughter! Aime Raine Ludick was born in 2008 and she has been an integral, driving force in my life! Even if she did not know it, the little baby that took up residence in my home and of course became a reason try just so much harder!
With love, dedication and some fun I have raised Aime. With stress, frustration and hard work I shaped and guided her. The reality of parenthood is that it is not always nice! Sometimes we must stand back and admire our handiwork. I can be proud of my little Grade 4 student that has so much of her own talent and personality.
On Saturday we went to Grand West Casino together with some of Aime's friends and her brother, we went ice skating. I haven't been on ice in 12 years and the kids have never been... we do not have ice or snow in Cape Town after all. Within an hour the Ice Station saw three Ludicks making our way around the rink at a fair pace and getting better at it! I definitely think we will go back again soon.
As is the nature of having a birthday in the middle of the week, we move the celebrations to the weekend prior and after. This morning we had chocolate cake instead of breakfast, but it is a school day so not too much fanfare. Aime still has a Grade to pass!

Yeah man. Congrats on the 10 year journey. Even though my kids can drive me up the wall at times I wouldn't change that for the world.

Most people underestimate a family, they go about their life not worrying about creating a family and when they get old and everyone dies they realize what they missed.
Absolutely. This is my Clan my House. The capital "H" is significant.
It is a life choice to have kids but it is important to foster a new generation and put that part of yourself into the world into the future.
It's not easy being a dad. But after long battles and struggles the results are sometimes astounding and very rewarding!
I believe that, I currently do not think about being a father. First of all I haven't met a woman that I think is fit to take care of children and secondly I want them to grow up close to nature, and not in the city.
So it has to wait... at least 3-4 years.
Finding the right woman is very important and carries high risk. If I knew certain things then I would definitely have changed a few things in how I chose. Will chat to you about it on Discord...

Could not keep up on roller skates, so ice would be a big no, no @zaludick happy birthday to your lovely young daughter.
Our children keep us young and full of laughter, teasing us to always be bigger and better, they are great fun.
My best friends in my life are my sons, we still tease and debate at length. It was easier to 'win on the day' when they were young, now grown up, they open my eyes to changes and events happening.
Yeah. Ten years seems like a long time but it is also just part of the journey together!
