Griffith Park is where the observatory is, right?

I'm actually about to move to LA (mid-September-ish), and I'm still figuring out which area to live in.... If you feel so inspired, I would love to hear more about the hiking life down there, and your favorite trails?

I have a couple dogs, and I would love to just walk out of wherever home happens to be and up a trail into the hills.... What neighborhoods are best for that?
