Our children stories are normally very interesting and true as narrated by these innocent souls.
This is the kind of lighting tools used here in Kenya simply because electricity is hard to find. Its is composed of a tank which carries paraffin and a wick which is made of a peace of cloth cut from an overused blankets.

Most families here have a good number of children and therefore breakfast, Lunch and some dinners are rare to find here.
Dinner, when available, is made of some cake made out of maize flour. It is called Ugali.

Then all the children gather around the plate of Ugali from the youngest to the oldest having hurriedly washed their hands. The food is eaten using bare hands while the device above provides the light.
In between the eaten competition something has to occur. The light is blown off by some malicious competitor, who is normally the eldest and in darkness they start looking for away to put on the light so eating can resume but to no avail once the light is on. The malicious competitor snatches all the food and swallows it in the event of searching for away to relight the wick.
That results into bitter tears from the younger children as they never got satisfied. Voting in most countries around the world happens in this manner. Its rare to find the fittest win the contests and that has left the world disappointed.

The one who blows out the light is studying to be a politician! There are many greedy people, and it is very apparent these days. You are totally right on voting today, it is also done with the lights out; to the benefit of the least qualified!
