Thrift store finds are the best!

in #line8 years ago

image Found this recently in a second hand setting. No artist signature, no date, but framed elegantly (the frame is super heavy), and seems to catch the eye. Who would go through all the trouble of painting, framing, and hanging a painting but leave off their signature? Made me wonder about the artist... was it just a slap in the face to copyright laws? Was it just a slight overlook? Did they do it on purpose and if so what reasoning did they have? Do other artist practice this practice? Do people just leave random paintings unsigned at thrift stores? Hmmm. I felt bad for the lone wolf and so he now resides here at home with my nerdy lion. They were destined, I guess. Image isn't subject to copyright that I know of so feel free to use it to your liking. Kspeaks

Have a look on the back, under any covering over the framing pins etc.!
You often find clues there. It also looks like the framer reduced the size of the artwork to fit the frame, rather than the frame being made to fit the painting.
All the same, nice find!

Such a cool find!
Love it

Great painting! I love thrift stores as well!
