Life with (dis)ability
So, how would you like the ability to notice everything?
tests such as these seem like a joke, like really? you didn't notice that? I noticed it while reading a book and listening to a podcast.
Or being able to follow two videos at the same time, while perhaps reading or chatting?
Now, how would you like the inability to switch off?
Your senses bombarded by stimuli all the time, maybe you didn't want to notice that guy adjusting their crotch and the variety of cheap perfumes around you, perhaps you'd like to chill, relax, take it easy.
But nope, not today, there's a couple arguing somewhere, a fly in the room, analog clock ticking, fan of a computer making noise, someone walking in the area, and seven different birds performing an opera.
Sounds relaxing doesn't it?
no
Ear protection doesn't really help either, suddenly losing all the external noises probably makes you paranoid and you find its downright scary to close your eyes, then you get used to that, you instead begin to hear all the tiny noises your body makes constantly and now thats whats up.
What works for me, is some proper sound isolating headphones and music which has very little quiet time so there arent too many gaps for the external world to barge in.
And that all isn't even getting to the physical sensations, whats driving me mad perhaps the most, is the weird fetish of clothing brands demanding on ruining perfectly good clothing with the tags inside, one of the worst offenders being H&M, like.. why do my underwear need a whole goddamn bible sewn stuck inside??? Who's reading these anyways? for whom are these?
So, buying clothing is a bit of a commitment, its not just two step process, buy and wear, instead it includes this careful removal of all the tags and such that arent part of the actual piece, process which some companies have decided to make impossible to perform without destroying the clothing, such as tags being sewn with the same stiches that hold the clothing together, so now it becomes more of a surgery, got to close that wound or its just another broken product.
So how do I manage the constant load of information trying to burn me out?
Good supplements such as fish oil, meditation, proper diet, and ADHD medication.
Thats pretty much all, for now, if you got this far, please leave a comment, maybe even vote up, like or whatever it is we do here.
