I am happy to take part in the Speem.watch Insect Macro Videography Contest.
For this contest I observed and captured a Vegetable Weevil an insect commonly found on vegetable plants and near soil.

About the Insect

The Vegtable Weevil is a smal insect that is often dificult to notice becaose its color matches the ground and dry leavs. Its body color is light brown to grey which helps it hide from enemies. Because of this natural camouflage macro photography and videography are very useful to see its details clearly.

Physical Appearance

The body of the vegetable weevil is oval and slightly hard. Its outer surface looks rough and uneven. One clear feature of this insect is its long snout which it uses to eat plant parts. The eyes are small and placed on the sides of the head.

The legs are short but strong. They help the insect move slowly and hold onto surfaces. During my observation the weevil moved very calmly and often stayed still for a long time.

I did not disturb the insect so its natural behavior can be seen in the video.
