Sean Parker, bootleg man  Napster co-founder who was depicted in The Social Network, at a party while two teenage girls offer guests cocaine from their naked breasts, is investing heavily in ballot measures.

The billionaire angel investor has contributed $3.8M to support the legalization of recreational marijuana. And $400k on a gun-control measure. I guess he's had a bad experience with the "weed man".

Charles Munger Jr., son of billionaire Charlie Munger (who is Warren Buffets "partner") is California's biggest republican donor. He's dumped $7.9M into a measure that would require bills be published 72 hours before a vote.

As it currently stands, bills can be passed before the general public has a chance to educate themselves on the subject matter.

Tom Steyer the nations largest individual Super Political Action Committee donor has coughed up $1M in support of taxing cigarettes at $2 a pack. Which would fund Medi-Cal for California's lower income residents.

Remember nick bags used to be $5?

Steyer has also dropped $50k to ban plastic shopping bags altogether. Brown paper bags already run $0.25 a bag at the grocery store. Unless your one of those weirdos who carries around bags in your trunk.

KCET -- It is really important that California become more progressive.” said Steyer

I find lobbying and deep pocketed donations anathema to actual Democracy. Fighting one's way to the top of the anthill requires qualities and skills that I would definitely NOT want someone to have who is making decisions for me.
