MISOPHONIA

A Condition I have lived with and faced as long as I can remember, It is a condition defined as -negative emotions, thoughts, and physical reactions triggered by certain sounds- These moments of sounds affecting ones self has nothing to do with the hearing or your ears I should say, but how the brain processes the sounds. The affects of misophonia are not only limited to sound but even certain repetitive motions that can still trigger the condition a visual absent auditory response. During my research I have came across the fact they have clinics opening up to help people cope, but also it was never really recognized by the DSM-IV or the ICD-10. Truly all I could basically understand was the only treatment one can find in this rare condition, was for one to find a way and create a safe space, and keep ear plugs handy, or even head phones to drown out sound. Another way I found was just simply having a good diet and exercise. This condition is new to the modern medical understanding, with the first publishing of this symptom by audiologists Pawel and Margaret Jastreboff in a publication in 2000.

ALL THOUGH YOU MAY BE A CREATIVE GENIUS IF YOU HAVE MISOPHONIA !!!!

Researchers at the Northwestern University found out those who are proclaimed to have misophonia tend to be more creative than those who do not wield this condition. Studies showed that the more people that were affected by sounds in this manner, scored higher than those who weren't affected as much by sound on tests gauging creativity. Talk about a major breakthrough in a new field that has so much to learn from this condition. It is always nice to see there is a duality to the bad side of things especially when it comes unknown medical conditions. Also It is known that because if you may have this condition doctors can miss diagnose you for being bi-polar , or have extreme anxiety which shows you there is still so much more to learn and understand.

  • Here is a good little quick youtube video to familiarize yourself with this condition

I have this as well.
If someone coughs repeatedly, like every few minutes for hours on end, I feel like I just want to scream "STOP COUGHING!" in their face.
The same goes for people chewing loudly. It seems that it is mostly related to sounds coming from the mouth or related to the mouth.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one!!

I feel kinda stupid admitting it, but I have this, like, BAD. I try to keep it under-wraps or hidden. If I have to sit and hear the same repetitive noise repeatedly, like loud chewing or snoring, I honestly begin to feel a little violent, as if I want to just hammer first the offenders' face into mush.

Of course I'd never act on those feelings, but those feelings of rage are real. If you want to piss me off, one of the very few ways to do so is to smack your mouth/lips while eating, snore loudly, slurp food, etc. Shit drives me insane.

The good news is brother is that you know now science is proving your a creative genius. The burdens we bare with the gifts were blessed with for sure ....i'm bad as well with this condition ...its like the only time I'm totally fine with ripping someones heart out like in "Indiana Jones temple of doom" any other time in overwhelmed with empathy an wouldn't hurt a fly I love to be happy .....but its like a switch that flips and all of a sudden I'm Jekyll -n-Hyde
