Why do some meditation scents like Nag Champa or Sandalwood seem to lose their intensity so quickly when used for creating a calming space at home?

So I’ve been trying to level up my little at‑home chill zone, and I keep running into this weird thing: scents like Nag Champa or Sandalwood smell amazing for, like, five minutes and then… poof, they’re basically gone. I’m over here wondering if my nose is broken or if I’m buying weak stuff or what. I just want my space to stay calm without having to relight sticks nonstop. Anyone else deal with this? Any tips, better brands, or tricks to keep the scent hanging around longer?

Your nose gets used to the smell fast, so it seems to fade. I get longer scent by using less ventilation, larger cones, or pairing sticks with oil.

I’ve noticed some scents fade fast if the room has moving air or the sticks or cones dry out too quickly. Sometimes switching to slightly denser incense or pairing it with a candle slows that fade. I’ve had better luck with Nag Champa and Sandalwood Scents from shops that focus on quality blends, since they tend to burn more evenly and hold their aroma without that quick drop-off.
